I went to the venue with Nimzzz(awesome buddy), Chevi(Kaze drummer), and Clark(chevi's nephew). We were already prepping ourselves up with Mr. Big's classic hits in Chevi's car so yeah, we were pretty lively on the road. We got there around a little over 8. We got to see General Luna's performance which was also very awesome! These lasses are plenty good.
The people were really getting pumped up as they waited for the greats to come up on stage and shake the roof with their music. As soon as they went on stage, people roared in excitement and I was one of those people freaking out. They started with the Electric Drill Song. It was just O_O and woooooo woooo!!! for me!! Live is definitely soooooo much better than watching through the tube. They also played songs from their latest album like "Undertow" but I just flipped when played "to be with you" , "wild world", "american beauty", "green-tinted sixties mind", and "just take my heart".
The solos from Paul Gilbert and Billy Sheehan were just mind-blowing. Their solos left me with an awed face, and a mouth left hanging from the sheer awesomeness they brought out to the plate.
My most favorite part of the concert was what I would call, "the switcheroonie"!! They would rotate their areas of responsibility and shun the crowd with another rotation. PG in drums, Eric Martin in Guitar, Pete Torpey in Bass, and Billy Sheehan in Vocals. They performed "Smoke on the Water" and then switched again in the middle of the song, this time with Pete Torpey singing!!! I've watched this in their reunion concert video in Japan and I was really ecstatic that they actually did it here as well.
Eric Martin said and I quote, "Manila, we'll be back sooner than you think!"
After hearing that, I just shook my head and thought to myself, "I have to watch them again."
To all the Mr. Big fans out there in the Philippines who weren't able to watch the concert, you're in luck!!!
WATCH OUT FOR IT!!! I CERTAINLY AM!!!
