Gibs Sagun - The Toku Titan
Hi, everyone! I'm back again after a 3-month long hiatus in blogging. This segment has been long overdue and it's a good thing that I woke up in a very good vibe today. I somehow got my writing mind in gear, so I better strike now whilst the iron's still hot.
Today, we have one very very awesome tokusatsu guy who goes by the name of Gibs. He's also known as a very capable rubber craftsman and runs his costume and propsmaking business in Cavite. He originally hails from Olongapo city, but used to go from there to manila to attend cosplay conventions.
Gibs is popular for his awesome tokusatsu cosplays, his singing, and his very positive vibe. An all-around good guy and a great inspiration for craftsmen, and performers alike.
Here's his story on how everything started for him (in cosplay)
It started when i bought a questor magazine way back 2003. I was a amazed when they featured some cosplayers in an anime quest convention. I said to myself, "its so cool! I wish i could wear cool costumes". Back then, I was still in high-school & found it hard to go to manila because lived in olongapo and my parents wouldn't let me. Then, in 2004, i heard that there was a cosplay competition organized by an unknown organization. I was happy to hear that, but i initially didn't want to enter the competition because i didn't have any costume that time. Instead i insisted a friend to cosplay. 2 days before the event, my friend backed out. As for me, i decided to cosplay and make my costumes asap. There are other stories past this point, but the rest is history :)

Gibs fell in love with the hobby due to:
- character portrayal, he gets to do the gestures and copy the personality of his favorite characters.
- meeting new friends and people who share the same passion and fandom
Aside from cosplaying, Gibs is also an avid videogamer, especially RPG's. He also loves singing (you'd see him compete in karaoke competitions in conventions), watching anime/tokusatsu, and propsmaking.
One thing I really like about Gibs is how he makes his costumes so well. He finds ease in crafting rubber, recycled materials, and paper mache. He also used to do the glue/sawdust method for crafting helmets(which is very painstaking, mind you). He admires veteran cosplayers namely Robert Wong(Evaguy) and Pablo Bairan, mostly for their craftsmanship and dedication in cosplay. Even as a child, Gibs has been a fan super sentai, kamen riders & metal heroes. he loves their detailed costumes, fight-scenes, special effects & story about love, justice etc (his favorite, by the way, is Kamen rider black, which he considers his childhood hero)
His advice to the newbies? JUST ENJOY!!!
He would also like to spread the love, joy and peace~
That's it for today! Don't forget to say hello to this awesome awesome human in conventions! BYE BYE!!! SHOUKETSU!!!! JOUCHAKU!!!! SHINE!!! DOOOO!!! SHOOOOO!!!!!

Kuri - Not Your Average Curry
Hello, my friends! It's another feature for today~
As always, I apologize for yet another late post. guuuuuhhhh.... I'm usually at a loss for words whenever I feature people. A writer's block, if one would consider it. ahehehe. (Yeah, I try to think of valid excuses XD)
Moving on... Today's feature is a team mate of mine in MARCH and is really good with her fabrics. She's done some really fancy victorian-esque outfits and through time, she gets better and better at the craft. I really love her Asuna and Saber Alter cosplays~ those are just *A*
Another fact that I like about Kuri is that she produces quality photos.
- expressions = check
- suitable location = check
- subtle photo manipulation = check
Let's look into more about her, and see a part of what's on her mind.
Kuri, who started in 2003, was in and out of the cosplay scene and started actively cosplaying at 2007. She finds joy in figuring out how to craft the costumes and make her work look stunning, while enjoying the romance of surrealism and reality as she enjoys portraying her beloved characters.
If you're curious as to how she prepares for a cosplay, here it is.
- "I usually re-watch the character's best episodes. And listen to the soundtrack before the shoot itself. To get a feel of it, there's also makeup trials and posing around. Looking for what to improve and what the best poses are (And what aren't)"
Kuri is pretty keen on photomanipulation. Her skills make her photos turn into something close to an animated reality. (again, surreal, yet still in the realm of reality). But, don't mistaken. All of the details in her costumes are real, not shooped :) She's really into the details, hence, hardwork is always around her when she's making stuff. She gets her inspiration from well-made/written characters, and is a fan of Jin Joson of Tux Team and Yaya Han. She's very impressed with their numerous artistic talents.

As mentioned already, she's got mad sewing skills! So, I took the opportunity to ask her for a quick sewing tip and she said,
"Try making your own patterns, it's seriously freeing. And besides, not everything is in books or the internet (for now) Why let that stop you?"
For the people who want to get into this hobby,
"Get ready for critics, and ignoring negativity. They will not do you any good. If you love cosplaying (or anything at all) Do it for yourself, and remember that."
SHOUTOUTS! HUZZAH HUZZAH!! (I honestly don't know why she's even surprised)
"Yo ser Marko, XD Thank you for even considering me as a person to feature!!! This is an honor. T___T"
Check out all of her awesome sites!

And with this, we end today's feature. But before we go our separate ways, I would just like to say....
Take pride in what you do and what you've accomplished. Not everyone can share what you can to the world. :) Stay happy, folks!
