it made him think...
Man went to his pub where he frequents.
Man wore his usual look; old, tired, indifferent. With toothpick in mouth, man sat at a bar counter stool. He ordered a drink, patrons talk to him, he smiles. It was open night, man went up the stage. Man asked for a song, the band started playing. He took hold of the mic, people listened He sang as well as could, the people enjoyed it. Man went back to his seat, a woman sat beside him. She said she enjoyed his song, the man gave a smile. She gave her her number, the man put it in his pocket. They went separate ways and the next day came. Man called the woman, she answered She talked about things, he listened The man talked randomly, she listened His ear and words enjoyed her company He was satisfied with life. Months and years passed, they still talked Neither saw the other since that night but the man was still happy She called one day to say she was in love He let out a frown, but wished for the best He thought about telling how he felt but kept it to himself She was to be married, he was invited He wanted to go, but knew he didn't belong So Man stayed at home and up late trying to remember all the words exchanged He thought to himself, "Had I told her how I really felt, would things be different?" |
